Covid19 Protocol Stage 4 Restrictions: Temporary Closure of Ken Ross Jewellers
12 August 2020As the spread of COVID-19 continues, its effects from an economic point of view of every country affected by this situation can be troubling. Fortunately, governments in almost all these countries do everything that they can do to mitigate, slow down, and eventually stop the haunting effects of COVID-19 not just for the economy but also for the welfare and safety of their people.
So, to effectively control the community transmission of COVID-19 in metropolitan Melbourne, the Victorian premier has decided to implement stage 4 restrictions all over the region. This new COVID-19 protocol, as well as the rising number of people with the virus in the region, necessitates us at Ken Ross Jewellers to close temporarily. However, our management ensures that we will resume our normal operations as soon as possible.
Duration of the Lockdown
The lockdown in metropolitan Melbourne under the stage 4 restrictions started last Sunday, 2 August, and will end after six weeks, which falls on Sunday, 13 September. The list of businesses that are required to temporarily limit or cease operations was released last Monday, 3 August. The lockdown for all the affected businesses started last Thursday, 6 August.
Status of Shops and Stores
Shops and stores that sell basic commodities like food, medications, and others can trade and sell products. However, these establishments must only allow a limited number of people inside the store in a given time. They must also ensure that people will remain 1.5 metres apart. General retail, alternatively, will be closed starting Thursday, 6 August. However, they are still allowed to operate by enforcing contactless pick-up, delivery, and click and collect. Hardware stores can only transact with tradespeople.
Other establishments like pubs, bars, nightclubs, beauty services, and hairdressers will be closed for the public. Bottle shops, restaurants, and cafes can deal with takeaway or delivery transactions only.
Additional Curfew Hours
One difference between stage 3 and stage 4 restrictions would be the implementation of curfew hours. Residents are now advised to stay at home between 8 pm and 5 am so that the spread of the disease will be contained. Once the curfew hours end, people are now allowed to leave their house only if they will be shopping for food and essential items, providing care and caregiving, doing daily exercise, or going to work. Employers are advised to support work from the home set up for their employees, if possible.
Following Safety Protocols
Minimum health safety protocols like wearing masks and practicing social distancing must be followed all the time, especially in public spaces. People who will be leaving the house must wear a mask or some sort of effective covering. A physical distance of 1.5 metres between two people must be always followed. Regular washing of hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds must also be done.
